Every year, as the weather turns colder and the workshop gets busier, I’m reminded why I started making Wristees® in the first place: small, useful things can bring a surprising amount of comfort, hugs for the wrists.

Wristees® are sewn in small batches by a wonderful small team of local sewers I’ve worked with for years. They are friends all leading different lives and have different stories to tell. Occasionally we drink tea, share stories, and make things at a pace that suits each person.
Choosing Local Really Does Matter
I know people often hear “support local” and think it’s just a slogan, but it genuinely makes a difference. When you buy something from a small workshop like mine, it helps keep our makers in steady work, keeps creativity alive in the South West, and allows us to continue running things in a way that feels human, not industrial.
It’s a quieter kind of impact, but an important one.
Lots of Textures for Lots of People
Everyone who discovers Wristees® seems to find a favourite. Some love the soft organic cotton for everyday warmth, others fall for the lace or velvet because they feel a bit special. The recycled fleece versions are close to my heart too — they let us make something cosy while reusing materials that would otherwise be wasted.
And of course, there are children’s sizes, matching bits and pieces, and those hot water bottles that never seem to stay in stock for long.
Practical Little Comforts
What I love most is how often people tell me they end up wearing their Wristees® constantly — on chilly dog walks, while working at the computer, in the studio, or even around the house when the heating’s not quite doing its job. They’re warm, but your fingers stay free, so you can actually get on with your day.
For people with cold hands or Raynaud’s, they can make winter a bit more bearable — and that’s a gift in itself.

For tiny businesses like mine, Christmas is the time when your support keeps everything going. It means the workshop stays busy, my makers have steady work, and we can carry on creating things thoughtfully rather than quickly.
